Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer II works to support the project team under the guidance of a Project Manager, Electrical Engineer III or Electrical Department Head. Key responsibilities include developing the virtual building model or AutoCAD drawings, coordinating and preparing schematic design, design development, and construction documents, and overseeing construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Electrical Engineer III or Electrical Department Head with electrical design of the project.
  • Produce electrical BIM models and AutoCAD drawings relative to compliance with office standards.
  • Coordinate and prepare electrical loading, circuit electrical loads, and lighting calculations of the project.
  • Prepare and/or obtain electrical equipment selections.
  • Prepare complete and constructible details for the electrical work.
  • Edit project specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimating for all electrical aspects of the project.
  • Coordinate and execute High Performance Design (LEED, CHPS, etc.) when part of project objectives.
  • Execute electrical design during Construction Administration phase with tasks such as submittal review, RFI research, and response.

Supervisory Duties

  • Oversee and manage Electrical Engineer I's.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of industry technology and developments, including knowledge of local codes.
  • Accomplish all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • IE Certification or 8+ years of experience in the electrical engineering field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of electrical engineering.
  • Experience with BIM software, Revit preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software.
  • Experience with specification software, SpecLink preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, NewForma, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Building, Energy, and Electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials and of the preparation of specifications.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to delegate, manage, and oversee workload of junior level engineers.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, including ability to present to others in small and large group formats.
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities effectively, while delivering quality work on time.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a priority on cost effectiveness and client satisfaction.

Pay Range

  • $85,000 to $100,000 per year based on experience and licensure.
