Position Overview

Role Summary: The Lead Teacher is responsible for overseeing the educational and developmental activities of children in a nurturing environment. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining high-quality educational practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain comprehensive records for children and staff, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
  2. Act as the primary administrator for the center, adhering to state regulations and quality improvement initiatives.
  3. Supervise daily classroom operations, prioritizing the health and safety of all children.
  4. Conduct assessments and evaluations such as PASS and ECERS to enhance program quality.
  5. Develop and manage a budget utilizing SUTQ funds, ensuring accurate financial tracking.
  6. Create a weekly Curriculum Plan that tailors learning experiences to individual and group needs based on child assessments.
  7. Organize and facilitate Parent-Teacher conferences and Home Visits to engage families in the educational process.
  8. Design transition plans as necessary to support children’s development.
  9. Conduct required screenings and assessments within designated timeframes.
  10. Provide referrals to Quality Assurance staff based on assessment outcomes.
  11. Set and monitor child development goals, including IEP objectives, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  12. Maintain child assessment records, including observations, TS Gold documentation, and work samples.
  13. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  14. Establish effective communication channels with team members and families.
  15. Review Medical Care Plans and medication administration requests prior to implementation.
  16. Integrate Conscious Discipline techniques into daily routines to foster a positive learning environment.
  17. Ensure a safe and effective classroom environment that promotes the well-being of all children.
  18. Exhibit consistent and reliable attendance.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, along with at least one year of experience in early childhood education or care for children from birth to five years. Alternatively, candidates with a two-year degree and relevant experience may be considered.

Additional requirements include:

  • A valid State of Ohio driver's license and compliance with the Agency's vehicle insurance policy.
  • Completion of six college courses in child development or early childhood education focusing on children from birth to age five, if the degree is not in a related field.
