Appraisal and Assessment Professional Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Appraisal and Assessment Professional to join our team at Lake County Government. As an appraiser, you will play a crucial role in determining the market value of properties within the county.

Your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough analyses of properties, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, as well as vacant land and agricultural property. You will use your expertise to determine the fair market value of these properties, taking into account various factors such as location, condition, and sales data.

In addition to your technical skills, you will also need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with taxpayers, real estate agents, and other stakeholders to provide accurate and unbiased information about property values.

We offer a competitive salary of $44,000 - $49,000 annually, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes employer-sponsored medical and dental insurance plans, flexible spending accounts, and a 401(a) and 457(b) retirement plan with a 9% employer match.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine the market value of assigned properties using cost, market, or income approaches
  • Educate taxpayers on the assessment process and procedures used to arrive at actual and assessed values
  • Research and prepare tax roll changes
  • Accurately update property records as needed
  • Perform field audits to determine use and confirm attributes

Requirements:

  • Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in real estate, appraisal, or another related field preferred
