Job Summary

The RN Nursing Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective nursing care, while achieving positive clinical outcomes and patient/family satisfaction during a designated shift. This position serves as a clinical operational liaison between the units and the Center Nurse Executive, ADON, and Unit Managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Center Nurse Executive to maintain adequate nursing coverage and ensure safe nursing care for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Effectively utilize existing Client resources, limiting the use of overtime and agency personnel.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, interviewing, and selection of nursing personnel.
  • Assess the work performance of nursing staff and develop Individual Performance Improvement Plans as needed.
  • Recommend and facilitate employee promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide timely and effective care consistent with individuals' needs, choices, and preferences.
  • Investigate patient/family complaints and take appropriate actions to bring them to resolution.
  • Identify educational needs of staff and communicate them to the Nurse Practice Educator.
  • Participate in the evaluation of staff competency and assist with the orientation of newly hired nursing staff.
  • Enhance nursing practice by attending mandated in-service programs and other GHC and outside professional education programs.
Compliance
  • Comply with and promote adherence to applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and support for the Compliance and Ethics Program within the management area.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and responses to compliance-related issues.
  • Participate in monitoring and auditing activities and investigations.
