Project Architect

HKS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect to join our Mission Critical team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading consultants and technical teams to deliver high-quality project design and implementation documents.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Lead consultants and technical teams to facilitate effective execution of project design and delivery of implementation documents.
- Schedule Management: Work with Project Managers to develop and manage production schedules, including defining and meeting deadlines.
- Implementation Document Preparation: Prepare, review, and coordinate implementation documents prior to issue, ensuring they conform to QA/QC and HKS standards.
- Technical Coordination: Manage technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
- Code Analysis: Lead development of code analysis and confirm code and zoning requirements for assigned segments of projects are met.
- Design Group Interaction: Coordinate design group interaction both internally and externally, including leading consultant team work sessions.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals and adjust scope of services.
- Client Presentations: Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
- Product Research: Perform product research and assist project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections.
- Team Leadership: Lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
- On-Site Visits and Field Reviews: Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings and document as appropriate.
- Meeting Minutes: Prepare and/or review meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
- Staff Development: Actively invest in the professional development of staff through mentoring, performance management, and career planning.
- Talent Development: Develop, recognize, recruit, and grow diverse talent.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
- Design Excellence: Promote the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice with the art of design.
- Accounting and Budgeting: Understand fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process.
- Project Delivery: Collaborate in and may be responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements.
- Project Plan and Utilization Rate: Maintain accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate.
- Contract and Additional Services: Understand contract and recognize additional services needed.
- Business Development: May participate in the pursuit and marketing of potential projects.
- Business Development Process: Support PIC/PM and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.
- Accredited Professional Degree: Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
- Architectural Registration: Architectural Registration required.
- Experience: Typically 8+ years of experience.
- Sustainable Design Accreditation: Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Revit, architectural software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
- Graphic Design Software: Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign software preferred.
- MS Office Suite: Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
- Sustainability and Integrated Design Guidelines: Strong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
- Architectural Building Systems: Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
- Building Codes: Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and incorporate into implementation documents.
- Presentation Skills: Strong presentation skills.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Client Relationship Management: Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
