About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Civil Field Inspector to join our team at Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting field observations and documentation of construction contractors' activities to ensure conformance with contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Observation and Documentation: Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to verify compliance with contract requirements, including documentation of work completed, materials used, and jobsite conditions.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and submit detailed reports of inspections, including Inspector's Daily Reports (IDRs), and communicate with senior staff on issues of non-compliance.
  • Collaboration and Liaison: Work closely with contractors, senior technicians, and engineers to resolve constructability issues and questions, and serve as a liaison between the contractor and senior staff.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with Requests for Information, complete and submit required calculations and forms, and maintain accurate records of inspections and documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2-5+ years of experience performing inspection on DOT projects, with knowledge of DOT documentation requirements and use of Field Manager/Fieldbook.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand and sit for extended periods, drive a motor vehicle, and maneuver project sites with uneven terrain.
