Meat Department Associate

About the Role:

This is a dynamic and challenging role within the Meat Department at SpartanNash. As a Meat Department Associate, you will play a key part in ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of service and quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meat Product Preparation: Prepare and produce meat products to meet production planner requirements.
  • Product Packaging and Labeling: Package and label meat products according to program plans.
  • Merchandising and Stocking: Merchandise meat products according to flight plans and merchandising expectations, and stock backroom with meat products.
  • Inventory Management: Notify the Meat Manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as a team with other departments and stores to achieve growth in our SpartanNash Retail stores.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Communicate tasks, recipes, weights, and measures, and cleaning steps completed to other associates, and follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines, Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations, and Guest Experience Guidelines.
  • Additional Responsibilities: May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma (GED) preferred.
  • Experience: One year of retail or related experience preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents, basic mathematical skills, and detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and may bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures) and is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
