Join Our Team as a Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation to lead our prominent lung transplant program at Temple Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing the lung transplant surgical services for Temple University Hospital (TUH). This includes maintaining UNOS and CMS certification for both transplant programs and developing strategies to increase the volume of procedures performed while focusing on improving early and long-term outcomes and increasing lung transplant volume.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-patient and out-patient pre-transplant evaluation
  • Expertise in multi-disciplinary lung transplant selection committees
  • Donor screening and selection, procurement surgery, recipient surgery, and preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of lung transplantation
  • Surgery for lung failure, including Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, and cardiac and/or thoracic surgical procedures, depending on the candidate's expertise

Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. with Board Certification/Eligibility by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent
  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Preference will be given to candidates trained in an ACGME-accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship program
