Job Title: Assistant Director of Finance

Join The Salvation Army team as an Assistant Director of Finance, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our organization.

About the Role:

The Assistant Director of Finance will be responsible for managing and directing the Finance Department, ensuring the efficient functioning of all assigned operations. This includes serving as a member of the Command Finance Council, supporting locations within the division, and conducting internal audits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct the Finance Department to ensure efficient functioning of all assigned operations.
  • Serve as a member of the Command Finance Council and as Secretary in the absence of the Financial Secretary.
  • Support locations within the division by responding to questions and requests for assistance.
  • Conduct internal audits and present reports to the Command Finance Council.
  • Process Officer tax grants and mileage logs, and assist with budget preparation and fiscal closing.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of The Salvation Army's Orders and Regulations, official policy directives, and Minutes.
  • Observe strict confidentiality and refrain from premature or unauthorized release of restricted information.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of related experience, with at least five years in a not-for-profit finance environment.
  • At least 5 years of prior supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software, Serenic knowledge preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to teach and give constructive guidance.
