About the Role

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist I or II to join our team at Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency. This part-time position will work every other weekend, providing exceptional patient care and technical expertise in our MRI department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI exams under the order of a licensed medical practitioner, ensuring accurate and safe procedures.
  • Review and verify MRI exam orders, radiologist's protocol instructions, and patient identification to guarantee correct exams are performed on the correct patients.
  • Assess patient risk via patient interviews and chart review, alerting nurses and/or physicians to possible contraindications for procedures.
  • Investigate and obtain information from various sources to determine whether patients may safely undergo MRI exams.
  • Ensure patients are prepared and radiologist-ordered protocols for pre-medications have been completed.
  • Assess patient's need for care following contrast administration, arranging renal function tests and follow-up according to radiologist protocol.
  • Provide education to patients and family members, assessing their understanding of procedures.
  • Monitor patient's physical and psychological needs during MRI exams, addressing issues according to hospital protocol.
  • Perform venipuncture for contrast administration, evaluating patency of IV access, and administering saline flush per protocol.
  • Prepare and administer oral and/or IV contrast per department protocols as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Document clinical and required regulatory information in patient's electronic chart.
  • Initiate response to complications and emergencies arising during exams, requesting assistance as needed.
Requirements
  • Completion of a formal educational Radiologic Technology program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
  • Currently certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Maintains minimum CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT.
  • Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess MR certification (ARRT) within 36 months of employment.
