Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Materials Procurement Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies team. This role is integral to our innovation hub, where we research, design, and develop cutting-edge nuclear reactors, propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Commercial Grade Dedication Plans.
- Act as the primary engineering liaison with suppliers for the fabrication of subcontracted components and assemblies.
- Analyze new requirements in collaboration with design and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Create procurement specifications and packages, including design information, drawings, material properties, and verification requirements.
- Ensure the acceptability of subcontracted components and collaborate with supplier personnel to resolve any issues.
- Review and analyze design specifications and prepare technical ordering requirements for materials used in nuclear pressure vessel fabrication.
- Lead internal technical teams in evaluating supplier work.
- Verify that supplier fabrication processes and delivered components meet all ordering requirements.
- Participate in supplier audits and work with various engineering disciplines to qualify new suppliers.
- Assist in the development of cost estimates for proposals.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering is required.
- At least two years of relevant experience in materials management or purchasing.
- Familiarity with Government Purchasing regulations (FARS and DFARS) is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for technical reporting and presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10-20%).
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain necessary security clearances.
