Position Overview: Senior Engineer, Project Engineering

As a Senior Engineer in Project Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading the engineering efforts for the development and execution of multiple intricate projects within the Project & Field Engineering team. You will act as the technical authority on the Project Core Team, overseeing external engineering firms and internal technical experts to ensure that project designs meet organizational standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a core team member responsible for the technical scope of work for assigned projects throughout their lifecycle, adhering to Colonial's project management methodologies.
  • Identify, engage, and manage external technical resources effectively.
  • Recruit and lead the technical sub-team, while providing progress updates to the project manager and core team.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of technical deliverables and design documents in accordance with the Engineering Deliverables by Stage.
  • Assist in the review and enhancement of Colonial's project management processes and tools related to technical project management.
  • Lead and support project engineering initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Petroleum) from an accredited institution; a combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • At least 10 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 7 years in the oil and gas sector and 5 years on relevant projects.
  • Certified Engineer in Training.
  • Experience managing project teams for projects valued at $10 million or more.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil and gas industry codes and standards (API, CFR Part 195, etc.).
  • Intermediate understanding of general industry codes and standards (ANSI, IEEE, ASME, NFPA, NEMA, NESC, PSM, etc.).
  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding company policies and exemplifying core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence.
  • Self-driven with a strong work ethic, seeking a supportive environment for professional growth.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in the design and construction of liquid pipelines and terminals.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including estimating, scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional.
  • Familiarity with project management best practices and methodologies.
  • Strong presentation skills for engaging with company executives.
