Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a seasoned professional to lead the Gas Field Operations team at Eversource Energy. As a Gas Field Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the gas distribution system, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of gas to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Direct and oversee the work of Specialists, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard and that the team is working efficiently.
  • Work Planning and Scheduling: Plan, organize, and manage the gas maintenance and construction field workload, ensuring that all tasks are accurately coordinated and scheduled.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all engineering and gas control procedures are followed, and that the team is aware of and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Customer Service: Communicate with customers and community officials to ensure that all aspects of utility construction, operations, maintenance, and service delivery are understood and met.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to and classify reported gas leaks, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed to ensure public safety.
  • Team Development: Participate in the supervisory on-call rotation, which involves assigning and directing the work of unionized internal work crews.
  • Safety and Quality: Ensure that all work performed by Specialists and internal/external crews is in accordance with Company standards and work methods, and that the team is aware of and compliant with all relevant safety procedures.
  • Workforce Management: Monitor the current and future workload of Specialists and internal crews, ensuring that district plans and schedules maximize productivity, control costs, and meet or exceed service level agreements.
  • Disciplinary Action: Initiate and conduct investigations concerning disciplinary action for Specialists and other unionized employees when required.
  • Hiring and Training: Participate in hiring panels involving the recruitment of Specialists, and ensure that all new hires receive comprehensive training and onboarding.
  • Financial Management: Review and approve billing for accuracy and completeness, in accordance with contract language.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Five (5) or more years of experience in Gas Distribution, and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers or utility operations.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of gas distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards, and business processes. Excellent project and schedule management skills, including computerized work and materials management and scheduling tools. Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
  • Certifications: Valid Motor Vehicle License required.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various job site locations and customer premises. The successful candidate will be required to work in a normal office environment, as well as in varied conditions and terrain, including adverse weather conditions. The role also requires sitting, walking, standing, stair climbing, completion of paperwork, using a telephone and computer, and attending meetings.

The successful candidate will be required to work emergency restoration assignments as required, and may be required to work long hours in response to outage situations and shift coverage requirements.
