Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electric Dispatch Supervisor to join our team at Eversource Energy. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising the 24/7 Dispatch System Operations Center (SOC) staff, planning, coordinating, directing, and supervising switching and tagging; writing, checking, and issuing clearances; monitoring loads, emergency restoration, and associated reporting for the electric distribution system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the SOC staff, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the distribution system.
  • Plan, write, check, approve, direct, issue clearances/permissions, and monitor orders for switching, grounding, and tagging instructions for the distribution system.
  • Receive OMS outage and non-outage events and trouble calls from the customer call center, analyze the problem, and initiate corrective action, including dispatch and personnel in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor load and voltages on circuits and substation equipment during switching and peak periods to ensure loading parameters are not exceeded.
  • Support the emergency disaster plan as required and assist at other regional operation centers during emergency storm restoration as assigned.
  • Monitor SCADA, substation, and system alarms.
  • Supervise SOC switching requirements between system dispatchers and field personnel for assigned shifts.
  • Prepare, disseminate, and maintain assigned regional operations center records and reports in support of system operations.
  • Coordinate with Eastern MA Black Start and emergency load shedding in accordance with current Operating Procedures/Guides.
  • Support the Manager and/or Senior Supervisor to ensure the workload of the shift and all applicable system configurations and risks are discussed for preparation purposes.
  • Train new dispatchers, including assisting in On the Job Training (OJT) for OMS class instruction and switching and tagging procedures.
  • Operate PC-based and mainframe applications.
  • Coordinate dispatching activities with appropriate Eversource personnel and outside personnel.
  • Subject to on-call duty.
  • Plan and schedule shift coverage, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Distribution System, while controlling costs.
  • Review distribution system events and ensure proper reporting.
  • Communicate new and updated policies and procedures while ensuring compliance.
  • Supervise the safe and efficient restoration of Distribution System outages.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline, plus five (5) years of experience in Dispatch, Transmission, Distribution, Generation, and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers, supervising employees, and change management to improve service/performance.
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline, plus seven (7) years of experience in Dispatch, Transmission, Distribution, Generation, and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers, supervising employees, and change management to improve service/performance.
  • Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in Dispatch, Transmission, Distribution, Generation, and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers, supervising employees, and change management to improve service/performance.
  • Five (5) or more years of related electrical utility experience.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Critical Infrastructure Protection certification must be maintained annually.
