Ambulatory Profee Coder

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Coding Specialist to join our team at Brockton Hospital. As a key member of our Health Informatics department, you will be responsible for coding and abstracting services for a wide range of ambulatory coding scenarios.

• Analyze medical information from patient records to accurately code diagnostic and procedural information in accordance with national coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.
• Consult with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate record information and determine appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes.
• Provide thorough, timely, and accurate assignments of ICD 10-CM and/or CPT codes, and reconcile charges.
• Ensure assigned codes are compliant with coding rules and regulations according to regulatory agencies, including state Medicaid plans, CMS, OIG, and HCFA.

• Advanced knowledge of ICD 10 and/or CPT coding and abstracting skills.
• Minimum of 85% on a pre-employment coding test.
• Knowledge of reimbursement principles, medical terminology, the human disease process, anatomy, and physiology.
• Good organizational skills and effective communication, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of computer software applications, including MS Office.

• Successful completion of an approved coding program or a graduate of a Health Information Management program.
• At least one year of coding experience in ambulatory settings.
• Certification as a Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA).

• 3M encoder.
