Job Title: School Aide

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Aide to join our team in Westminster, Orange County, CA.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to work with students requiring instructional, personal care, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses, one on one or as a general classroom aide.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Communicate pertinent information to teachers and accompany students during recess and lunch periods, along with community experiences.
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activities.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLP.
  • Assist students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional.
  • Assist teacher with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation.
  • Appropriately report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
Requirements:
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
