Key Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Worker plays a crucial role as an ancillary staff member, operating under the direct supervision of the Environmental Supervisor. This position involves performing essential housekeeping tasks in a systematic and hygienic manner to ensure that hospital facilities are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and organized state. This is vital for creating a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $16.99-$17.50 per hour. Garnet Health System provides this range to comply with New York State law regarding salary transparency in job advertisements. The listed range does not encompass bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. Several factors may influence the determination of a team member's compensation, including location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget considerations, and internal equity.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Minimum Experience: Basic proficiency in spoken and written English is necessary. Ability to follow instructions is essential. Previous experience in a custodial or housekeeping role is preferred but not mandatory.

Required Certification/Registration: Not applicable.

Physical Requirements: This position primarily involves light work, requiring the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Frequent standing or walking is required, along with occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Effective communication is necessary for expressing or exchanging ideas verbally.

  • Environmental Demands: Work is conducted in a clean, well-lit, heated, or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates the physical capability to perform a full range of motion necessary for task completion. Visual and auditory acuity, along with manual dexterity, is required for operating office equipment.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to build collaborative relationships, work effectively under pressure, and prioritize tasks is essential. Critical thinking and flexibility are necessary, along with attention to detail in a dynamic environment.
