PRIMARY DUTIES

The role is essential in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency of all facilities at Wings of Hope Family Crisis Services. This position requires performing regular maintenance, repairs, and enhancements on buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate should possess a solid foundation in general maintenance practices and a dedication to fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere for women and children affected by domestic violence.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and automotive maintenance.
  • Must pass a background check and maintain a clean driving record. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks, work autonomously, and manage time efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with staff and residents.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.
  • This role may involve working in diverse environments, including outdoor areas, mechanical spaces, and residential sections of the facility.
  • Standard working hours with potential for evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and fleet vehicles to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • Repairs: Diagnose and resolve issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, heating/cooling systems, general building upkeep, and vehicles. Collaborate with external contractors when necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and codes. Perform routine safety inspections and promptly address any identified hazards.
  • Facility Upkeep: Ensure cleanliness and organization of common areas, exterior grounds, and mechanical spaces. Responsibilities include lawn care, landscaping, painting, and minor carpentry tasks.
  • Donation Management: Assist with the movement of furniture and other donations. Support the transport of large items and aid in client transitions.
  • Emergency Response: Address maintenance emergencies swiftly, including after-hours as necessary, to safeguard the well-being of residents and staff.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Operations Manager and other personnel to meet facility needs and support the overarching mission of the organization.
