About the Role:

As a key member of our team at Wabash, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of business improvement projects and processes in our manufacturing department. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting teams to make improvements to existing devices and manufacturing processes, and in leading complex projects independently with minimal supervision.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety standards and procedures, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Capital Projects: Lead the execution of projects to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale, and/or Environment, and ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and/or automation, and use capability and reliability studies to predict maintenance needs.
  • Technical Reviews: Plan, organize, and conduct all aspects of technical reviews using results from capability and reliability studies, and ensure that all reviews are completed on time and within budget.
  • Documentation: Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed to meet safety and quality systems requirements.
  • Design for Manufacturability: Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package, and ensure that all designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
  • Training and Development: Train and provide work direction to technicians, engineers, and manufacturing personnel when required as part of a project validation, and ensure that all personnel are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Team Collaboration: Serve as a core team member or extended team member on new product projects, and participate in improvement reviews and line-side meetings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports Safety system, Quality Policy, Quality System, and the appropriate regulations for the area they support, and work closely with manufacturing to ensure employees are trained in new processes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Analyze equipment failure data to identify patterns and trends, and adjust asset maintenance plans accordingly, and work closely with maintenance and manufacturing to extend the asset life through preventative maintenance activities, while developing a timeline and justification for asset(s) replacement.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree – Engineering Major Desired in one of the following disciplines: Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Management. Master's Degree a plus.
  • Skills: Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and/or Six Sigma a plus, and proficiency in AutoCAD or Solid Works.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor people and get results through others, and an ability to think ahead and plan over a 90-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  • Technical Skills: Quality orientation and attention to detail, problem analysis and resolution, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
