The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer is tasked with supporting the Engineering and Operations infrastructure solutions while ensuring compliance with all facets of the Information Assurance (IA) program as mandated by various U.S. Government regulations, including but not limited to: Director of Central Intelligence Directives (DCID), IC Directive (ICD) 503, and relevant NIST publications.
- Develops security testing and evaluation strategies.
- Offers certification and accreditation assistance in crafting security and contingency plans, while executing intricate risk and vulnerability assessments.
- Evaluates policies and procedures against Federal statutes and provides guidance for addressing identified gaps.
- Suggests system improvements to rectify security vulnerabilities. Designs, tests, and integrates cybersecurity tools for computer and network protection.
- Secures system configurations and implements security tools, conducts compliance scans, and assesses products and various facets of system management.
- Performs audits of security programs and formulates solutions to mitigate identified risks.
- Delivers information assurance support for the creation and execution of security architectures to accommodate new and evolving security needs.
- Assists in investigations related to computer incidents.
- Conducts vulnerability assessments, including the formulation of risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepares Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation and procedures. Collaborates with other IA team members, various security disciplines (industrial security, physical security, special programs security, etc.), program personnel, and Government security representatives.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree coupled with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Possession of TS/SCI clearance adjudication or the capability to obtain SCI and successfully pass a polygraph examination.
- A proven history of progressively responsible information assurance experience in ICD 503 certification and accreditation.
- ISSE/ISSO must comply with DoD 8140 and any additional certification/training mandated by DoD for the position.
- Minimum IAT Level III certification is required.
- Must maintain necessary technical and security training pertinent to cybersecurity responsibilities, in alignment with DoD instruction, Risk Management Framework for DoD Systems, NIST Special Publication 800-53, Recommended Security Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations, and DoD Directive M, IA Workforce Improvement Program.
- ISSE/ISSO must possess certifications and/or extensive hands-on technical experience in the technology domains of their assigned systems to effectively fulfill their responsibilities.
- Familiarity with NIST Special Publication Revision 1, Guide for Applying the Risk Management Framework to Federal Information Systems, Committee on National Security Systems Instructions (CNSSI) 1253, and NIST SP Revisions 3 and 4, SP800-39, SP.
The typical salary range for this position is between $146,000 and $234,000, reflecting the standard compensation based on experience and other relevant factors.
