Columbia Funeral Service Coordinator

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Funeral Service Coordinator in Columbia, MS. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in people's lives during their most challenging times.
Job DescriptionThe Funeral Service Coordinator will work closely with families and guests to ensure a smooth and respectful experience throughout funeral services and events. Key responsibilities include:
- Pre-Service Preparation: Prepare rooms for services and events by setting up chairs, tables, easels, podiums, photos, and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families.
- Event Execution: Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization during events. Prepare table settings and refreshments as needed.
- Post-Event Tasks: Clean up rooms, pack up family mementos, and provide them to the family upon departure or arrange for delivery.
This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in event coordination, hostessing, or hospitality is preferred.
- High level of compassion and integrity.
- Ability to follow instructions given over the phone or in person.
- Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work days, weekends, and evenings as needed.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to take initiative and solve problems.
This role requires working in a professional dress code when interacting with families. The physical demands of this job include:
- Continuous periods of standing.
- Climbing stairs to access buildings may be necessary.
- Physical effort to push/pull carts, vacuum cleaner, and lift serving dishes.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Work hours are beyond standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
CompensationThe estimated salary range for this position is $35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
