Job Overview:

The Advanced Practice Services Manager plays a pivotal role in both clinical and administrative leadership, focusing on the development and support of a dedicated team of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) within the OU Health framework. This position requires close collaboration with leadership across various departments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and addressing professional matters pertinent to APPs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with OAP and physician teams to shape the strategic direction for the assigned service area.
  • Support initiatives that align with the Office for Advanced Practice's strategic goals.
  • Engage in system-wide projects that enhance the practice, education, and research of PAs and APRNs.
  • Act as a resource for APP-related inquiries from health system partners.
  • Foster interprofessional partnerships to ensure high-quality care for patients and their families.
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes for new APPs in conjunction with relevant leaders.
  • Manage ongoing evaluations of professional practice.
  • Conduct performance assessments in collaboration with physician teams.
  • Oversee attendance and scheduling in partnership with practice teams.
  • Track continuing medical education (CME) benefits.
  • Monitor clinical work expectations in collaboration with leadership.
  • Uphold the mission and vision of OU Health, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Stay informed on national and regional trends affecting the APP role and healthcare delivery.
  • Ensure accountability for behaviors that reflect OU Health's mission and values, including a commitment to lifelong learning and professional conduct.
  • Prepare reports for clinical departments regarding practice responsibilities.
  • Maintain active patient care responsibilities as needed.

General Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • For APRNs: A Master's degree in an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specialty (CNS, CRNA, CNP, or CNM) is required; a Doctoral degree is preferred.
  • For Physician Assistants: A Master's degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies is required; a Doctoral degree is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three years in clinical practice with progressive leadership experience is necessary.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • For APRNs: Must possess APRN and RN licensure from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, along with board certification.
  • For Physician Assistants: Must hold current full licensure from the Oklahoma Board of Medicine and board certification.
  • For Both: Leadership certification must be obtained within two years if not already held upon hire.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a complex environment.
  • Proven success in building collaborative relationships with an inclusive leadership approach.
  • Experience in fostering successful collaborations with APPs and physician colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and persuade effectively.

  • Sound judgment in matters concerning APPs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of basic billing and revenue concepts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the APRN/PA scope of practice.
