The Instructor of Business Education plays a vital role in executing the New Jersey Department of Education Core Curriculum Content Standards, delivering a comprehensive program in Business Education and Financial Literacy for high school students.

This role embodies the organization's Mission, Values, and Service Standard Behavior guidelines in all responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
A typical day for an Instructor of Business Education at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Delivering well-structured Business Education lessons that align with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in Financial Literacy.
  • Lessons should have clear objectives, build on prior knowledge, and connect to future lessons, summarizing key points effectively.
  • Creating lesson plans that demonstrate a logical progression of learning objectives and activities in accordance with National and New Jersey State curriculum standards.
  • Employing diverse learning materials and activities, utilizing effective discussion and questioning techniques.
  • Regularly assessing and monitoring student progress through appropriate means, providing feedback, and adjusting lessons as necessary.
  • Reporting accurate and relevant information regarding student progress and achievement during conferences, IEP meetings, and on report cards and progress reports.
  • Engaging in school-based committees to develop programming and curriculum for students.
  • Establishing clear behavioral expectations for students and providing constructive feedback on their behavior.
  • Implementing the school-wide behavior rewards program and behavioral contracts as directed.
  • Consistently enforcing school rules and contributing to a safe and orderly environment.
  • Maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Fostering appropriate relationships with students.
  • Seeking assistance from relevant personnel when addressing student or school-related issues.
  • Executing student-related intervention plans and other operational plans as directed by administration.
  • Performing additional duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhering to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as an educator.
  • Completion of NJDOE Criminal History Review.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJDOE Teacher of Business Education or NJDOE Teacher of Business Education Certificate of Eligibility.
