Position Overview
This role is integral to the Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project (AcqDemo), specifically within the Air Force Elements of the U.S. Transportation Command.


Key Responsibilities
This position is filled under the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition roles that support acquisition functions. As an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/PLCYPLN), your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluating and recommending software performance and capabilities based on user requirements, collaborating with implementation teams, clients, and program managers.
  • Formulating IT, cybersecurity, and data acquisition strategies, policies, and plans, while advocating for necessary policy modifications to align with organizational goals.
  • Ensuring that cloud-based information security products and services comply with statutory and regulatory standards.
  • Providing expert guidance to clients regarding the applicability of information systems to fulfill business objectives.

Leadership and Resource Management
You will be responsible for leading, directing, and allocating resources to acquire, develop, and protect superior information systems and services for the Command's IT, cybersecurity, and data Programs of Record (PoR), ensuring timely and cost-effective capabilities for operational needs.

Qualifications
To qualify at the NH-3 level, candidates must possess:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-2 (GS-11) level, demonstrating advanced analytical skills in cyber capability planning and strategic business capability delivery.
  • Experience in establishing quantitative IT evaluation criteria for system data analysis and hardware/software assessment.
  • Proficiency in validating IT requirements in accordance with Federal and DoD regulations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing IT governance policies and procedures.

Competencies Required
All candidates must demonstrate the following IT-related competencies:

  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in work and conscientiousness in detail orientation.
  • Customer Service: Ability to work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Oral Communication: Proficiency in conveying information clearly and effectively to various audiences.
  • Problem Solving: Capability to identify issues, evaluate information accuracy, and make sound recommendations.

Additional Information
Information Assurance Certification is a mandatory requirement for this position. The incumbent must achieve the appropriate certification within six months of assignment. Failure to obtain the necessary certification may result in removal from the position. Continuous education and training for IA certification are also required.
