Job Overview: Our client in Wayne County, MI is seeking an experienced Public Works/MDOT Estimator to join their growing team at Rule 5 Hire. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in estimating MDOT, Public Works, and Heavy Civil construction projects.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role: As an MDOT Estimator, you will be responsible for bidding on typical projects from $500K to $50M. You will work closely with the project team to ensure accurate estimates and timely completion of projects. Your expertise in estimating unit prices and lump sum bids will be essential in driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Estimate costs for MDOT, Public Works, and Heavy Civil construction projects.
  2. Bid on projects from $500K to $50M.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
  4. Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely completion of projects.
  5. Provide expert advice on estimating techniques and best practices.


Requirements and Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need:
  1. At least 5 years' experience in estimating MDOT, Public Works, and Heavy Civil construction projects.
  2. Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid software system.
  3. Familiarity with Agtek and PlanSwift estimating software.
  4. Able to create logistics plans showing how the project was planned to be built from the bid.
  5. Proven track record of specific bids awarded and profit margins.
