Job Title: Domestic Violence Advocate

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Domestic Violence Advocate to join our team. As a Domestic Violence Advocate, you will provide crisis and supportive services to victims of domestic violence, including assessment of needed supports and services, available resources, and a plan for meeting clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis and supportive services to victims of domestic violence
  • Assess clients' needs and develop a plan to meet those needs
  • Provide advocacy for victims applying for other services to live violence and abuse free
  • Attend professional trainings and conferences to maintain and develop current knowledge of domestic violence
  • Provide or arrange for transportation as necessary
  • Client advocacy and accompaniment through court, social services, medical, and housing systems
  • Maintain accurate and complete case notes
  • Provision of children services, including counseling, recreational activities, and childcare as appropriate
  • Shared coverage of 24-hour hotline
  • Facilitation of support group as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a human service field or related field
  • Experience with trauma-informed, survivor-centered service provisions
  • Experience and knowledge of domestic violence protocols
