Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Apache Junction. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to detect and deter crime, conduct business checks, and enforce traffic laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, administer first aid, and conduct area evacuations as needed.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, fill out forms, and complete records.
  • Coordinate activities with other officers, detectives, and supervisors to make arrests and implement strategies.
  • Secure crime scenes, conduct searches, and gather evidence using proper methods and protocol.
  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Testify as a witness in civil and criminal hearings, serve court orders, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, and served as a Police Recruit for the City of Apache Junction or graduated from AZPOST Academy program and received AZPOST certification within six months prior to appointment.
  • One year full-time paid permanent experience as a police officer, deputy sheriff, or equivalent in the last three years and have completed agency probation period and acquire/receive AZPOST certification within three months of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Federal and State statutes, Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, public safety, Department policies and procedures, and City personnel rules and regulations.
  • Current communication technology, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and wireless services.
  • Law enforcement methods, practices, and procedure, including case laws governing arrest, rules of evidence, probable cause, search and seizure, and investigative and interrogative procedures.
