Advanced Practice Provider - Orthopedics at Piedmont Healthcare

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role involves a range of patient care responsibilities aligned with established medical standards and practices. The focus is on promoting health while managing both acute and chronic conditions. Collaborating closely with physicians, the provider will deliver medical services, gather and document patient data, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, schedule laboratory tests, and provide direct patient care, including conducting physical examinations, diagnosing, and treating patients. Additionally, the provider may assist in surgical procedures and perform wound closures as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires working in both an outpatient clinic and hospital settings.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Availability for nights and weekends is essential.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to aid in identifying medical and surgical issues, prescribing appropriate treatments, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Analyze diagnostic tests and take necessary actions based on the provider's scope of practice. Engage in research activities as a Primary Investigator or Sub-Investigator in clinical trials and registries.
  2. Gather patient histories, perform physical assessments, and document findings in the patient's medical record; write progress notes and prepare comprehensive patient summaries highlighting significant findings; obtain relevant psychosocial histories and foster therapeutic relationships with patients.
  3. Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures; explain the purpose, preparation, and expected outcomes of scheduled procedures to patients. Secure informed consent and communicate with specialists as required.
  4. Execute therapeutic procedures such as applying and removing casts, suturing wounds, and changing dressings; monitor patient progress, report findings to the supervising physician, and maintain detailed records of each patient's status, consulting with the supervising physician when progress does not align with expectations.
  5. Formulate diagnoses and develop treatment plans for patients. Provide education regarding their health conditions and promote healthy lifestyle choices. Conduct follow-up examinations after procedures, hospital stays, or surgeries.
  6. Offer clinical expertise and serve as a resource for clinical staff in the absence of physicians.

Alternatively, candidates must be licensed as a Nurse and authorized to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia with National Certification.

ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

CPR/ACLS certification is required.
