Job Title: Analyst - Data Processing 1

Job Summary:

The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Louisiana State University is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Support Person to join our team. As a Technical Support Person, you will be responsible for providing technical support for the computers and computer networks in the Department, including on-site support, network support, planning of new hardware and software purchases, maintenance of client-server applications and licenses, hardware and software installation and backup, operating system configuration, upgrades, and system backup over a range of platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for approximately 30 faculty and staff and 60 graduate students.
  • Maintain computer laboratories and computer-enhanced teaching spaces.
  • Conduct annual inventory of electronic equipment and assist with departmental inventory process.
  • Maintain and renew software licenses, including working with companies on agreements and LSU personnel.
  • Serve as technical liaison between the Department, Information Technology Services, and outside affiliates.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with specific experience in system administration and maintenance.
  • Detailed knowledge of configurations and maintenance of Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X operating systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP network protocol and commonly used applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of specific experience in system administration and maintenance.
