Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of English language learners and be able to provide individualized support to help them succeed academically.

Responsibilities:

• Provide academic support to limited English proficient students in the basic subject areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Computer Literacy.
• Use English and, when necessary, the native language of the student to facilitate understanding and communication.
• Assist students with homework and projects, and provide additional support as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and services.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited educational institution with at least 30 semester hours in general education core curriculum and/or child development and education, or successful completion of the ParaPro Test with a score of 464 or higher.
• Experience working with school-age children and youth in any capacity preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver License required.

Working Conditions:

This position is a 9-month contract, with a starting salary of $16.04 per hour (Grade 18) or $16.40 per hour (Grade 19), depending on qualifications. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide support to students in a variety of settings.
