Job Title: Composites Structures Technician

Hera Technologies, LLC is seeking a skilled Composites Structures Technician to join its team in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including trimming and finishing composite and composite metallic assemblies, assembling structures, and repairing composite defects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints, and other authorized documents.
  • Trim and finish composite and composite metallic assemblies.
  • Assemble structures, including setup, bonding, and fastener applications.
  • Repair composite defects.
  • Use tooling holes, pilot holes, or hand tools as required.
  • Align parts and secure in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps.
  • Check for good edge margins and alignment.
  • Select drill bits, reamers, and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes.
  • Drill, ream, and countersink full-size holes in parts/assemblies.
  • Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files.
  • Load and unload ovens to bond detail parts to assemblies.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner.
  • Determine and obtain correct type and size fasteners.
  • Cold work holes to prepare for close tolerance fastener installation.
  • Install bushings into housings using an arbor press and/or hydraulic puller.
  • Apply liquid nitrogen to facilitate installation of bushings.
  • Install fasteners in the correct sequence per drawing, using the correct tools.
  • Prepare parts for bagging, including placement of bleeders, thermocouples, probes, and vacuum connections.
  • Perform vacuum bag processing, bonding, and oven/autoclave curing.
  • Make basic layouts on parts or assemblies to establish reference points and check dimensions.
  • Understand and execute work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and securely store equipment and supplies.
  • Inspect work for the highest quality.
  • Maintain strict attention to detail when working at customer's property.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Support 5-S and adhere to health, safety, and environmental company guidelines.
  • Perform cross-functional operations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 2+ years of experience using hands tools in the aerospace, manufacturing, marine, or automotive industry.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with reaming, honing, and/or countersinking of uniform close tolerance holes in proper sequence while using the correct tool for the job.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, an understanding for drawing symbols, flag notes, and general notes.
  • Experience working with composites.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy while working within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Autoclave operation experience preferred.
  • Experience with oven curing.

Work Environment:

  • Employee spends most of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules.
  • Loud noise from machinery requires use of hearing protectors.
  • Employee wears hard toe shoes or boots to protect their feet from potentially dropped objects.
