Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at 4Front Credit Union. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine accounting and clerical duties, including reviewing, balancing, and recording general ledger activity. You will also be responsible for researching and resolving discrepancies and accounting errors, as well as completing related reports and summaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting functions.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for multiple legal entities.
  • Perform a variety of activities to assist with maintaining financial, statistical, and accounting records of the credit union.
  • Prepare and post General Ledger entries and reconcile GL's.
  • Perform accounts payable functions, including processing invoices.
  • Assist with the month-end closing process.
  • Complete accounting functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving accounting problems and discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of the NCUA Quarterly Call Report.
  • Evaluate established policies and procedures, and create, update, or modify them as necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with members, area personnel, and with management.
  • Respond to members and co-workers in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain information and/or to correct transactions.
  • Ensure the Credit Union's professional reputation is projected and maintained.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or commensurate work experience in a financial institution preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures, including account reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of related computer applications.
  • One to two years of previous accounting experience preferred.
  • Well-organized, with good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of reasoning, with ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Good math skills, with ability to use PC, calculator, and other basic business machines.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
