Surgical Technologist Job Description

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the surgical suite, working closely with physicians and registered nurses to ensure safe and effective patient care. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a surgical conscience, and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of the surgical room and equipment
  • Implementation of AST Standards for quality patient care
  • Assistance with surgical procedures and patient care
  • Communication with healthcare team members
  • Adherence to hospital policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • Current Surgical Technologist Certification preferred
  • BCLS certification required
Working Conditions:

This position involves standing for long periods, moving about the facility, and traveling to other locations within the SRHS service area. The employee must be able to safely move, lift, and handle supplies, equipment, and patients, with assistance when needed.

Physical and Mental Demands:

The Surgical Technologist must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, make fine discriminations in sound, and have close visual acuity. The employee must also be able to maintain emotional stability, demonstrate superior communication skills, and work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
