Facility Maintenance Technician

The role of the Facility Maintenance Technician involves ensuring the upkeep of the property’s appearance, equipment, and systems. This includes managing the physical plant and fixtures to guarantee guest satisfaction, optimize profitability, uphold hotel quality standards, and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the cleanliness, chemical treatment, and documentation of the swimming pool and spa facilities.
- Assist in the execution of preventative and facility maintenance work orders and repairs.
- Maintain mechanical equipment rooms and the maintenance shop in a clean and organized manner.
- Be knowledgeable about the alarm systems, including the locations of smoke detectors, alarms, and sprinkler shut-off valves.
- Ensure a safe environment by monitoring grounds, walkways, and parking areas, addressing hazards as they arise.
- Utilize mechanical repair knowledge to complete daily assigned preventative and corrective work orders in guest rooms and public areas.
- Support staff in the completion of assigned projects as directed.
- Perform seasonal tasks, including snow and ice removal from parking lots and sidewalks.
- Respond to fire alarm activations, providing necessary information to emergency personnel and other staff members.
- Keep the Chief Engineer and General Manager informed of any issues that arise during shifts and necessary corrective actions.
- Adhere to key control and payment procedures.
- Assist housekeeping with room mattress rotation.
- Comply with all safety standards, OSHA regulations, and departmental performance standards.
- Utilize proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures when maintaining equipment.
- Provide assistance to guests as needed.
- Report any suspicious activities or hazardous conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- The candidate must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Preferred maintenance experience or a solid work history.
Specific Skills:
A valid Class C driver’s license is preferred for assisting with van shuttles. Pool and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained after employment. Ability to read and write basic English for recording meters and interpreting work orders. Capable of handling stressful situations related to life/safety emergencies. Effective communication skills with employees and guests. Ability to follow instructions and complete job functions promptly. Knowledge of hazardous chemicals and their safe handling. Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and honesty are essential.
