PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Deliver exceptional customer service within the Perishable Goods Department.

Accountable for upholding standards in line with the operational manual, enhancing sales through outstanding customer interactions, and minimizing losses through effective adherence to established practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster an environment of enthusiastic customer engagement with a primary focus on prompt, friendly, and precise service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Be courteous and supportive to fellow team members.
  • Utilize company resources such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO) effectively.
  • Receive shipments, label appropriately, rotate stock, and store items in designated areas.
  • Ensure that the ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and presentation of products align with company policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels across all sections of the Perishable Goods Department, including meat, deli, frozen items, dairy, and ice cream.
  • Process meat products as directed by the production schedule and as needed.
  • Wrap, label, weigh, and stock the meat display as required.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and clean equipment as necessary.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize the department.
  • Adhere to variety and layout standards.
  • Ensure that all promotional materials relevant to the department are utilized correctly.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of and compliance with company policies, guidelines, and standard practices.
  • Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety protocols diligently.
  • Identify and rectify any unsafe conditions that may pose risks to associates or customers.
  • Report any incidents involving associates or customers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Wear the company uniform, including a name badge, while on duty, maintaining a neat and professional appearance.
  • Complete all required training modules and courses successfully.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn various tasks and technical aspects of the role.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to resolve issues.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
  • Must be capable of fulfilling the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to operate computers and other communication systems necessary for job functions.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to maneuver up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack.
  • Stand for extended periods, with frequent short-distance walking.
  • Handle various substances related to cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce, and household cleaners.
  • Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
  • Meet established performance standards for the position.
  • Tolerate extreme temperature conditions for short durations.
  • Possess sufficient visual acuity to check identification, invoices, and other documentation.
