About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Executive Assistant to join our team in supporting the daily operations of our Baltimore and Washington, D.C. offices. As a key member of our staff, you will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of our office.

We offer a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, based on experience.

About the Position

This is a full-time position that requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the Member's official schedule, travel plans, and related records
  • Briefing the Member on all scheduling activities and making recommendations on proposed future meetings
  • Assisting with scheduling staff meetings and briefings
  • Coordinating with the communications team to schedule press, interviews, radio, and television time
  • Providing high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, and handling information requests
  • Performing routine administrative functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings
  • Training and supervising junior-level clerical staff

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Proactive, poised, and experienced with very strong attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.)
  • Good analytical, communication, and organizational skills, as well as strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of the legislative process, procedures, and organization of the House
  • Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the representation of the Member
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others
  • Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner
  • Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Access, Excel, and other database management software

Working Conditions

This position requires working in a normal office environment with moderate noise levels. You will work in a small workstation without an expectation of privacy.
