The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Inspector to join our team in the San Francisco Department of Public Health's Environmental Health Branch. As an Agricultural Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our community by enforcing regulations related to agriculture, food safety, and environmental health.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of agricultural production facilities, nurseries, and other related businesses to ensure compliance with regulations and laws.
- Investigate complaints and allegations of non-compliance, and take enforcement actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to share information and best practices.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including farmers, producers, and other industry representatives.
- Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and laws, and provide training and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders as needed.
- Two (2) of the required three (3) valid Agricultural Inspector/Biologist Licenses issued by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CFDA): Pesticide Regulation License, Commodity Regulation License, and/or Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation License.
- Must obtain the third valid CFDA Agricultural Inspector/Biologist License within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
- Desirable qualifications include possession of a valid Investigation and Environmental Monitoring License and/or Integrated Pest Management License issued by the California Department of Food and Agriculture, bilingual fluency in another language, public outreach experience, Microsoft Office proficiency, experience with regulatory inspections and enforcement actions, and experience effectively managing conflict/confrontational situations.
