Position Overview

The Healthcare Informatics Consultant plays a crucial role in managing projects, providing software assistance, and delivering training for clinical systems, electronic health records (EHR), and various applications within the PHMC Health Networks. This position requires flexibility to work both remotely and on-site, ensuring that clinical staff receive comprehensive training and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the clinical content repository while testing product features and EHR workflows.
  • Coordinate software upgrades in collaboration with vendors, IT, finance, and health network staff.
  • Implement additional clinical software modules as necessary.
  • Conduct thorough testing of all upgrades and new modules prior to deployment.
  • Facilitate training sessions for new and existing staff, preparing all necessary training materials.
  • Evaluate training programs and assess end-user proficiency.
  • Develop training materials and assessments to enhance staff capabilities.
  • Manage and resolve identified issues within the clinical setting.
  • Research and assess software solutions to enhance functionality and support quality care.
  • Provide recommendations to the Director of Business Analytics for actionable improvements.
  • Collaborate with care partners to facilitate electronic communication of patient information.
  • Serve as the primary contact for HIPAA Security matters, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and implementing policies as required by HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Ensure safeguards and security measures are in place to protect electronic Protected Health Information.
  • Construct forms and templates in clinical software to meet regulatory standards.
  • Act as a liaison with software vendors and assist in report generation as needed.
  • Participate in quality and risk committees to uphold compliance with standards.
  • Optimize care documentation processes to maximize reimbursement.
  • Maintain current certifications and complete mandatory training annually.
  • Report any non-compliance issues or breaches of confidentiality as necessary.

Compliance Responsibilities

Understand and adhere to PHMC compliance standards, keeping informed of all relevant regulations and policies.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Epic Certification(s) in Clinical Informatics or Ambulatory Principal Trainer.
  • Experience in healthcare, particularly in ambulatory primary care or community health.
  • Strong background in classroom training and curriculum development in clinical informatics.
  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Physical and Work Environment

The role may require travel between various sites, with moderate noise levels typical of an office environment. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary for meetings and training sessions.
