Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert cybersecurity guidance to program offices focused on surface combat systems.
  • Steer initiatives to navigate platform IT systems through the comprehensive Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle, ensuring successful Authority to Operate (ATO) renewals.
  • Craft, coordinate, and scrutinize detailed Assessment & Authorization documentation in alignment with DoD Instruction on Information Assurance Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Process (RMF).
  • Evaluate system scans and tests utilizing the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker (SCC) and the Assured Content Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Collaborate with support teams to guarantee that systems under evaluation adhere to all relevant DoD and DISA regulations, including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG).
  • Engage with NAVSEA, PEO IWS, and combat system program offices to ensure compliance with DOD/DON cybersecurity standards and best practices throughout the design, development, and maintenance of integrated combat and weapon systems.
  • Function effectively as a team member, showcasing strong verbal and written communication skills, and supporting various interactions with program leads, engineers, and team members.
  • Advise Department of Defense clients on secure system design and capability implementation.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and weaknesses in software, hardware, and architectural designs for mission-critical environments, providing actionable mitigation recommendations.
  • Offer mentorship and training to fellow team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare presentations to convey essential information to decision-makers.

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of direct cybersecurity experience, with a focus on evaluating system compliance against current RMF and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity Management or a related technical field.
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 and relevant DoD Instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of DoD 8570 Information Assurance Management (IAM) III or IAT III Certification.
  • Certification as a Navy Qualified Validator (NQV).
  • Proficiency in using the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) and eMASSter tools.
  • Experience in an acquisition program office environment, adept at handling documentation, protocols, formats, and deadlines.
  • Understanding of Navy combat systems, including SSDS and AEGIS.
  • A working knowledge of DON, NAVSEA, and PEO IWS cybersecurity regulations.
