Data Center Technician Job Description

At Tekfortune Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining our data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and terminate fiber optic cables, patch panels, and hardware
  • Perform continuity testing and troubleshoot issues with horizontal and riser cables
  • Install and terminate LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors
  • Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords, outside plant fiber, and indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber
  • Install fan-out kits, including buffer tubes, and calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site support after business hours as part of an on-call schedule
  • Travel to various sites as needed
Testing and Troubleshooting:
  • Test using an OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO
  • Troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end-to-end and network-wide
  • Perform mechanical and fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable
  • Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Self-motivated, positive approach, professional, and ability to create, develop, and implement project process improvements
  • Promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners
  • Proficient with listed tools and able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representatives
  • Proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations
  • Ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones
