Role Summary

This position is based in an office environment with flexible work options. Relocation and visa sponsorship are not available.

The Director of Social Responsibility will be instrumental in leading a proactive team focused on promoting sustainable practices within the U.S. dairy industry. This role will oversee the production of the industry's sustainability report and awards, while also supporting the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment and its associated committees. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility, this position will require strong leadership and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Report:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the biennial report that highlights the collective achievements of the U.S. dairy sector in sustainability and social responsibility.
  • Collaborate with pillar leaders and subject matter experts to ensure timely and accurate report content.
  • Monitor project timelines and deliverables, making necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes.
  • Resolve any obstacles that may impede progress, ensuring clear communication and understanding of report content.
  • Manage external contractors to ensure adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.

2. Enhance the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment:

  • Assist in onboarding new participants, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected.
  • Revise and implement the annual survey to confirm adherence to commitment terms.
  • Regularly update informational materials related to the Commitment.
  • Support the management of the Stewardship Commitment Committee, including scheduling and documentation.
  • Track and communicate progress on committee initiatives to various stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication with committee members, tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
  • Assist with budget management and reporting for Processor Stewardship Oversight LLC.

3. Develop and Manage the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards Program:

  • Lead the integrated team responsible for the national awards program.
  • Revise and streamline the awards process, engaging with state and regional organizations.
  • Coordinate the nomination process and collaborate with the communications team to recognize award recipients.
  • Continuously assess the awards program's effectiveness and implement improvements.

This role will also contribute to stakeholder engagement and external communications, including supporting planning and messaging for the Dairy Sustainability Alliance.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in sustainability or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing sustainability projects.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards and corporate social responsibility.
  • Experience in project management documentation and budget oversight.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in dairy or agricultural operations is advantageous.
