Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Automation Field Support Technician to join our team at Callan Marine Ltd. This role is essential in ensuring the effective operation of our dredging equipment through the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation (EIA) systems.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Electrical Systems: Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of AC/DC motors, motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, control systems, fault protection relays, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Instrumentation Systems: Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of various instrumentation devices including pressure transmitters, flow meters, level transducers, and temperature sensors.
  • Automation Systems: Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of PLCs, computer systems, network switches, and associated components.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as high voltage testers, multimeters, and calibrators.
  • The ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams.
  • A willingness to serve as a relief electrician when necessary.
  • A commitment to travel as required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical drawings related to instrumentation.
  • Reliability and a strong motivation to succeed.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors.
  • The ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Competencies in stress management, teamwork, and results orientation.
Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Candidates must be capable of:

  • Wearing and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Moving across varying heights and accessing different job site locations.
  • Engaging in repetitive movements and physical activities, including lifting up to 30 lbs independently and utilizing additional lifting means for heavier items.
  • Climbing stairs and vertical ladders of at least 6 feet in height.
