A& M's Compensation and Benefits Tax practice is seeking a skilled professional to advise companies on qualified retirement plan issues, executive compensation, and other compensation matters.

As an Associate, you will work with a team to analyze complex tax projects, participate in engagements, and provide tax and business advice. You will also have the opportunity to develop your analytical and communication skills while adding value for clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and other guidance
  • Drafting technical memorandums and letters related to compensation and benefits issues
  • Researching emerging issues and areas, such as Tax Reform and new SEC requirements
  • Aggregating data in Excel to assist with complex nondiscrimination testing
  • Assisting in the identification of compliance issues in qualified retirement plans
  • Reviewing executive compensation plans and agreements
  • Benchmarking compensation against market data
  • Assisting in the design of annual long-term incentive awards
  • Working on M& A transactions, including performing tax and HR calculations
  • Assisting with marketing initiatives

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Advanced degree preferred: Masters in Accounting/Finance/Tax, JD, or LL.M. (tax), CPA (or in the process of pursuing)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High proficiency in spreadsheets
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and manage deadlines

The annual base salary range is $65,000 - $90,000, dependent on several variables, including education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A& M offers a discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance.

Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are entitled to participate in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings' fringe benefits, including healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD& D, and disability coverages, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
