Design and Analysis Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled engineer to join our team at Penn State University. As a Design and Analysis Engineer, you will be responsible for performing electromechanical analysis, design, and testing of SONAR transducers / arrays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform electromechanical analysis, design, and testing of SONAR transducers / arrays
- Design and analyze mechanical packaging concepts
- Analyze electrical circuits
- Design fabrication tooling and test beds
- Create and apply assembly procedures
- Provide oversight, technical leadership, and supervision of staff conducting transducer fabrication and testing
- Contribute to/develop and present technical and project status reports
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or science field
- Mechanical or electrical design experience
- Technical problem-solving fundamentals
- Technical writing skills
- Data analysis skills
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Computer modeling experience (CAD and/or FEA)
- Experimental test conduct experience
- Acoustics knowledge
- Dimensional tolerance stack-up analysis experience
- Underwater acoustic transducer/array design and fabrication techniques
Working Location:
The working location for this position will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.
