Behavioral Intervention Specialist

The Behavioral Intervention Specialist will work closely with the Culture Coordinator and mental health providers to implement the school's emotional intelligence framework and culture plans. They will develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to address inappropriate behaviors, supporting students' academic success. The Specialist will assist with classroom and school-wide behavior management, lead Townhall meetings, and provide behavior support through techniques, coping strategies, and problem-solving. They will also support positive behavior programs, working directly with identified students to adopt behaviors that improve academic performance, particularly those in need of intervention and support.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach Social Emotional Intelligence (SEI) lessons and the Student Code of Conduct to parents and teachers.
- Conduct New Student Orientation.
- Lead Town Halls and co-lead the TRIBE Model.
- Administer pre- and post-tests of the Student Code of Conduct and maintain files as evidence.
- Monitor student transitions, bathrooms, cafeteria, playground, arrival, and dismissal.
- Address all discipline referrals and student misbehaviors by applying the Behavior Management Plan incentives and consequences.
- Promote specialized positive behavior interventions where students thrive through explicit, intensive, and accelerated behavior instruction with ample practice.
- Review behavior referrals, enter consequences into Kickboard, and run weekly data reports.
- Manage out-of-class resets by providing Think Sheets and behavior modification strategies to students.
- Maintain daily discipline trackers and provide weekly reports to the Culture Coordinator.
- Monitor the RCA Points App, print weekly reports, and shout out students on the leaderboard.
- Monitor meals, teach mini lessons during meals, and play appropriate music.
- Provide daily feedback and updates to teachers.
- Support teachers by conducting SEI lessons for students in the classroom.
- Monitor student attendance, send attendance letters for 3, 5, and 7 absences.
- Maintain attendance trackers and conduct home visits as needed.
- Notify parents of out-of-class resets and hold parent conferences.
- Maintain logs of student, teacher, and parent conferences.
- Recognize and celebrate a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors.
- Supervise students continuously to ensure a safe, non-threatening, and nurturing environment where students can thrive.
- Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions.
- Participate in building-level SST team and/or grade-level meetings as appropriate.
- Conduct investigations and maintain a folder for each student and incident.
- Manage Core Competencies by creating bulletin boards and highlighting them.
- Be comfortable speaking to students and leading Town Halls.
- Consult with the mental health provider, SST Coordinator, Culture Coordinator, principal, and teachers.
- Build strong relationships with parents to foster open communication and collaboration.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report any unsafe activities to a supervisor.
- Foster strong positive relationships with families and collaborate with the school leadership team to provide ongoing programming that reflects families' needs and interests.
- Understand and implement ScholarMade's vision and Social Emotional Intelligence (SEI) model.
- Experience in Behavior Management and Interventions: The candidate should have a strong background in implementing behavior management strategies, incentive programs, and creating and executing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to address student behavior.
- Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills: The candidate must be able to work effectively with teachers, parents, mental health providers, and administrators to support students' behavioral and academic success. Building positive relationships with students and their families is key.
- Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Emotional Intelligence: The candidate should be familiar with SEL frameworks and have experience incorporating emotional intelligence practices into behavior management strategies to create a positive, supportive learning environment.
