About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Comprehensive Outpatient Joint and Spine Institute (COJSI). As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.
  • Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Prepare and gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring timely and efficient setup of procedures.
  • Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts, collaborating with the circulating nurse to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants, maintaining a high level of professionalism and respect for the surgical team.
  • Update and maintain accurate physician preference cards, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between team members.
  • Transport and process surgical equipment, collaborating with the sterile supply team to ensure efficient and effective cleaning and reprocessing.
  • Interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, demonstrating empathy, respect, and excellent communication skills.
  • Adhere to Standard Universal Precautions, hand hygiene protocols, and personal protective equipment guidelines, prioritizing patient and staff safety.
  • Participate in environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, contributing to a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with equipment and safety guidelines, utilizing knowledge and skills to ensure effective use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care, serving as a resource and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
