Position Description:

Certified Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist is a vital member of the healthcare team, providing technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure a sterile field.
  • Coordinates the preparation or disposal of specimens.
  • Assists with inventory management of sterile supplies.
  • May assist with patient transport.
Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years of acute care Surgical Tech experience.

Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Specific Skills:

Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up

Excellent interpersonal skills
