About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Comprehensive Outpatient Joint and Spine Institute (COJSI). As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient safety.
  • Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment, and participate in the sponge, needle, and instrument count.
  • Gown and glove surgeons and assistants, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Update and maintain accurate physician preference cards.
  • Transport surgical equipment to designated cleaning areas, and assist in the reprocessing of instrument sets.
  • Interact effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Adhere to Standard Universal Precautions, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment guidelines to ensure a safe environment.
  • Participate in environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Stay up-to-date with equipment and safety guidelines, and utilize equipment knowledgeably.
  • Act as a resource to other healthcare team members, and attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required.
  • Communicate effectively with visitors, physicians, and staff, maintaining patient, physician, and employee confidentiality.
  • Maintain designated certifications, such as CPR, and adhere to the center's vision, mission, and business philosophy.
  • Comply with policies and procedures, and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
