About This Position

ChristianaCare is seeking a highly skilled Simulation Specialist to join our team in Elk Mills, Maryland. As a Simulation Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and administering simulation technology and sessions used in the Virtual Education and Simulation (VEST) Center.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the use of simulation for education, performance improvement, research, and equipment evaluation.
  • Maintain and update simulation center's database to include student and facilitator participation.
  • Develop simulation scenarios in conjunction with department management, coordinators, educators, physicians, nurses, and allied health providers to meet educational needs.
  • Manage and direct simulation activities.
  • Collect data on the effectiveness of simulation for student learning, critical thinking, and clinical decision making.
  • Develop and deliver methods to evaluate student and facilitator satisfaction with departmental and simulation center programs.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and development of initiatives for the integration of simulation in clinical education.
  • Collaborate with Simulation Technical Assistant, Simulation Technology Specialist, and coordinators to program patient care simulators, prepare scenario props, and create scenario moulage.
  • Set up, operate, and manipulate patient care simulators, related media, and computer equipment.
  • Explain to learners the use of patient care simulators, related media, and computer equipment.
  • Assure student compliance with center policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • RN or allied healthcare degree preferred.
  • ACLS certified is strongly preferred.
  • Experience as an ACLS instructor is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience as a healthcare professional required.
  • Experience working in a simulation education environment preferred.
  • Experience with operating patient simulation equipment preferred.
