Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Manager 2 to join our team at the Ohio Department of Veterans Services. As a Food Service Manager 2, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire food service operation, including sanitation, safety procedures, and vendor contract compliance. You will also supervise frontline supervisors and lower-level food preparation and service staff, preparing schedules, approving leave requests, and conducting staff meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administers and manages entire food service operation for all shifts, including sanitation, safety procedures, and vendor contract compliance.
- Supervises frontline supervisors and lower-level food preparation and service staff, preparing schedules, approving leave requests, and conducting staff meetings.
- Oversees ordering of food and supplies from vendors, prepares related records and reports, and supervises lower-level custodial workers and laundry staff.
- Attends and conducts staff meetings, meets with dietitian/dietetic technician to discuss changes and modifications, and attends committee meetings.
- Performs special projects and oversees fiscal controls of dietary department, preparing request to purchase, obtaining price quotes, and preparing departmental budget.
Requirements:
- Completion of 2-year training program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology or 2 years of experience in food service preparation.
- Must be certified dietary manager, food service manager, or have similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body.
- Has two or more years of experience in the position of director of food and nutrition services in a nursing facility setting.
- Has completed course of study in food safety and managing dietary operations, including foodborne illness, sanitation procedures, and food purchasing/receiving.
Working Conditions:
May be exposed to dangerous or hostile consumers, residents, or youths; may work flexible work hours, rotating days, and/or weekends.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of food service preparation, food service management, supervisory principles/techniques, food service sanitation and safety, food purchasing and specifications. Ability to apply principles to solve practical everyday problems, write accurate reports, gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things, stand, walk, or bend continuously, and lift 25-50 pounds.
